Kathryn has 23 years of experience, having trained and worked as a psychotherapist in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She also spent some time working in Japan. She returned to New Zealand in 2003 and subsequently worked in private practice and for Community Mental Health services. Kathryn currently works full time in private practice.

Psychodynamic theory; Attachment theory; CBT – cognitive-behavioural therapy; DBT – Dialectical Behavioural Therapy; Mentalization Based Therapy; Compassionate Mind Training; Solution Focused Brief Treatment; and Sensory Modulation Training. Kathryn also co-facilitates specialized DBT based Life Skills Groups.

Amanda is a registered Counselling Psychologist who specialises in helping adults, children, adolescents and their family work through anxiety, stress and trauma. Amanda is particularly interested in helping people become unstuck, helping them to work through fears in order to find a more fulfilling and satisfying life. Amanda believes that counselling should be meaningful, focused and non-judgemental.

Amanda takes a holistic and integrative approach to therapy that focuses on all aspects of a person’s life and in particular considers the dynamic relationship between the mind and body on a person’s well-being.

Amanda provide a safe and compassionate space, using a range of different therapeutic approaches, which takes into consideration a person’s life stage, particular needs and preferred ways of working. Amanda is trained in person-centred counselling, play therapy, crisis intervention, stress management, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and solutions focused therapy. As a trained mindfulness and meditation instructor it is natural for Amanda to blend mindfulness practice and self-compassion into treatment when this is appropriate.

With over ten years in helping people regain a path to wellness, Amanda is well placed to help you and/or your family to utilise new coping skills, be happier, and find new and exciting ways to enjoy a new found hope in life.
